The following is an extract from the letter of a foreign missionary:

Out here He has taught me many lessons concerning prayer that I could never have learned at home.  Here we are so surrounded with our finiteness, our feebleness, and out failure, that we are ever cast on God.  How often have I been an outer court pray-er, just remembering my needs, my desires, mymy thanks; and that was all!  Then He led me to the Lord, I could commune in the Holy Place and offer spiritual sacrifices to Him.  Such prayers are fewer in number.  But even that was not close enough.  He wanted to make me a high priest DRAWN not once a year into the holiest of all for intercession, but every day.  It is hard work; the flesh cannot live there, self must fade away in that divine presence; but oh!  the joy of knowing that He heareth.  But until the names of those for whom we intercede are GRAVEN on our hearts, we never stay long enough to get the answer, consequently we often fail even in the secret presence!  God help us to be intercessors supplicating conviction. longings, expressing
