“How full of tenderness and pity the Lord is” James 5:11 “Be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted” Eph. 4:32 Print E-mail

“When He hath found it, He layeth it on His shoulders” (Luke 15:5).  How tenderly does the Shepherd handle the sheep that has cost Him so much toil.  He does not smite it, or even harshly drive it back to the fold.  Nay, He does not deliver it to an underling to carry, but layeth it on His own shoulders.

Absolutely tender,
Absolutely true,
Understanding all things:
Understanding you.
Infinitely loving
Exquisitely near,
This is God our Father,
What have we to fear?

Rev. C.E. Hurlburt, of the Africa Inland Mission, once said to a little group of friends: “It is not enough that we speak sound doctrine with phonograph accuracy if we lack the infinite tenderness of God.”

Ruskin remarked of the truly great that an infinity of tenderness is their chief gift and inheritance.
