Devotions:
“Be filled with the Spirit.” Eph. 5:18 Print E-mail

I must be filled.  It is absolutely necessary.
I may be filled
.  God has made it blessedly possible.
I would be filled
.  It is eminently desirable.
I will be filled
.  It is so blessedly certain.

A woman in Chicago came forward with eagerness to the altar some years ago at a meeting where I was presiding.  I felt impressed to speak to her.  “I am seeking,” she said, “the blessing of sanctification.”  “Is it the person of the Holy Ghost you want?”  “No,” she said, “the blessing of sanctification.”  “Your sanctification is not a blessing.  It is a person – the blessed Holy Ghost.  He is made unto you wisdom, righteousness, sanctification.  When you receive the Holy Ghost, He brings Christ and makes Him your sanctification.”  Then I said, “You put faith in God, the Father?”  “Yes,”  “Have you faith in God, the Son?”  “Yes,” she said.  “Have you ever put faith in God, the Holy Ghost?”  “No,” she replied.  “That is what you want then.  Receive the Holy Ghost and you will have no trouble about sanctification.”
