Devotions:
“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.” Eph. 6:18 Print E-mail

On the day of Pentecost there was only one sermon, whilst there were ten days of prayer.  We twentieth-century Christians invert the apostolic order and have ten days of preaching and mere scraps of time for prayer and have more often a failure than a success in the effort to save souls.  Ten days of prayer and but one sermon would greatly thin out the usual revival-meeting crowds that attend such services for entertainment rather than for salvation, and many of whom go to look on with eager eyes curious to see what someone else is going to do, and with no expectation of doing any good or getting any good themselves.
