HOW TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN THE VOICE OF GOD AND THAT OF SATAN

When Satan comes knocking at the door, how is he to be recognized?  By the character of his knocking.  It is so different from that of Jesus.  That was low and gentle, and required a listening war; this is loud and imperious and one cannot help hearing it; that denotes importance; this denotes impatience, impelling you to rush to the door without a moment for reflection.  While “he that believeth shall not make haste,” he that doubts shall make speed.  When Satan knocks, instead of rushing to the door, turn the other way, and retire to the innermost room of your being where you are accustomed to hold communion with Jesus; ask Him to meet Satan for you.

Beware of anything that removes you from the simplicity that is in Christ.  Anything that makes faith hard is of the devil.  All that makes the way of holiness complex is of the devil.  – REV. J. STUART HOLDEN.
