“Fear not” is the most oft repeated command given us, and the most frequently disobeyed.

Go alone with God and ask Him, if He Who hath created and sustained all creation through the long centuries and works in a harmony so perfect that a discordancy is unknown, can want thee, His highest creation, made to have dominion over the work His hand, to hurry, worry, fear and tremble?

In John’s Gospel we read that Nicodemus feared; Joseph of Arimathea was a secret disciple, for rear; no man durst speak openly of Christ for fear; the disciples shut themselves up in a room, for fear; but fear never touched Jesus.

“By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king” (Heb. 11:27). Fear is a faith killer.  Faith is a fear killer.

“Because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved” (Psalm 16:8).  A calm heart is the heritage of the man who has God at his side.  – ALEXANDER MACLAREN.
