I'd rather see a sermon..

I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day,
I'd rather one would walk with me than merely show the way;
The eye's a better pupil, more willing than the ear,
Fine counsel is confusing, but example's always clear;
The best of all the preachers are the men who live their creeds,
For to see good put in action is what everybody needs;
I soon can learn to do it if you'll let me see it done,
I can watch your hands in action, but your tongue too fast may run;
The lectures you deliver may be very wise and true,
But I'd rather get my lessons by observing what you do;
I may not understand the high advice that you may give,
But there's no misunderstanding how you act and how you live.

“I AM THE LORD THAT HEALETH THEE.” Ex. 15:26 Print E-mail

Observe in the fifth chapter of James how the apostle distinguishes between suffering and disease.  “Is any among you afflicted?  Let him pray” for patience.  “Is any sick among you?  The prayer of faith shall save the sick.”  There is no promise that the trials of life will be taken away, but there is such a promise in the case of sickness.  - STOCKMAYER

“We which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in out mortal flesh” (2 Cor. 4:11).  The miraculous power which raised Christ from the grave saved Paul from going down into it.  – BEET

The strong phrase, “in our mortal flesh…” indicates how deeply the resurrection life of Christ penetrated in the apostle’s physical organism.  It communicated a living power and a kind of imperishableness to the very substance of the body, to the flesh which is essentially mortal and corruptible.       – SCOTT’S COMMENTARY

We trust God for nothing, no matter what it be – healing included – but out faith is put to the test on the point in question.  -PRITCHARD
